Motorola over the weekend published the Android 4.4.4 KitKat kernel source codes for the Moto G (Gen 2) and Moto X (Gen 2) on GitHub.

The first announcement about the publishing of the kernel source codes came via a Motorola employee named 'tags07' as a comment on a section of MSM Kernel a week ago, stating "fyi.. We just posted Moto X Gen2 kernel sources: Branch: kitkat-4.4.4-release-victara; TAG: MMI-KXE21.187-47. Moto G Gen2 is next..".

As mentioned above, the initial kernel source code for Motorola Moto X (Gen 2) is codenamed 'Victara', while the Moto G (Gen 2)'s kernel source code is dubbed 'Titan'.

Motorola announced the Moto X (Gen 2) and Moto G (Gen 2) in September this year. Both phones are powered by Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and the company has confirmed it will roll out an Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the two devices.

The Lenovo-owned company will have to publish new kernel source codes once it rolls out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the two phones.
