Samsung has moved to distance itself from
reports that emerged earlier this week about the company's plans to unveil its next generation flagship early next year.
On Monday, reports in Korean media indicated that Samsung will be showcasing its new flagship device in February 2013. The Korea Times claimed that both Samsung officials and its local part suppliers have confirmed that it is 'ready' to launch the next Galaxy S smartphone at the Mobile World Congress 2013.
The
report also indicated that the phone is expected to go on sale starting March. A Samsung official allegedly told The Korea Times that Samsung Galaxy S IV may have a 5-inch flexible OLED display and it will definitely use LTE networking.
Speculation was that Samsung may have leaked that report in a desperate attempt to counter
iPhone 5's pre-order success. However, Samsung has taken to Twitter to distance itself from any such reports.
