Videocon Group to invest Rs. 1,000 crore in Tamil Nadu

Consumer durables firm Videocon Group Friday signed MoU to set up a manufacturing facility with an investment of Rs. 1,000 crore in Tamil Nadu.

The Videocon group's subsidiary, Unity Appliances would be establishing a consumer durable production unit at Manamadurai in Shivaganga district investing Rs. 1,000 crore in the next five years.

During the MOU signing function at which 15 more firms inked the pact with the state government in the presence of the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa envisaged a total investment of Rs. 5,081 crore.

Unity Appliances Ltd, part of the Videocon Group, Chairman and Videocon Industries, Director, Anirudh Dhoot exchanged documents with State Industries secretary C V Sankar.

Coimbatore-based KPR Mills would make investments of Rs. 600 crore for setting up cotton and hosiery factory in Palani Taluk over a period of three years.

The company aims to generate employment of 1,000, according to KPR Mills, Executive Director, C R Ananda Krishnan.

Semi-conductor firm TAPP, part of the Olympia Group, would invest Rs. 500 crore for its first manufacturing facility to produce semi-conductor chips. The plant would generate employment of 500 people.

Drug company HLL Biotech Ltd would invest Rs. 594 crore for setting up its facility at Thirukazhukundram in Kancheepuram district, that would create 500 new jobs.

Household manufacturer BSH Household appliances would set up its manufacturing facility at Pillaipakkam in Kancheepuram district to manufacture washing machine and chimneys. The company would make investments of Rs. 350 crore at the plant that would generate 400 jobs.

Japanese-electronic appliances maker Hitachi would invest Rs. 350 core for setting up its plant at Mahabalipuram near Chennai for manufacturing auto-parts. The plant will create 400 new jobs.

Drug company Vardhaman for manufacturing pharmaceuticals would set up a lab at Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu with an investment of Rs. 300 crore.

The plant will create 300 new jobs at the facility, an official said.

Cotton Yarn manufacturer Abirami Amman Mills has proposed to set up a manufacturing facility at Dindigul at an investment of Rs. 261 crore spread over a period of three years, that would create employment to 450 persons.

Automobile catalyst maker BASF has proposed to set up a plant at Maraimalai Nagar near Chennai for an undisclosed investment. The company at the facility has proposed to make automotive emission control catalysts for motorcycles and scooters.

KYB Motorcycle Suspension would invest Rs. 221.45 crore for setting up manufacturing facility at Vallam Vadagal in Kancheepuram district to manufacture front fork asembly and rear wheel assembly. The plant will generate employments of 600 people.

Japan-based Yamaha Motor Electronics has proposed to make investments of Rs. 123 crore to manufacture starter and rotor for two-wheelers that would generate 600 new jobs. The plant is expected to come at Vallam Vadagal in Kancheepuram district.

Steel metal parts manufacturer Thai Summit Auto Parts would invest Rs. 120.64 crore for setting up plant at Kancheepuram district that would generate employment of 800 people.

Aluminium die-castings maker Kyowa Castec India would make investments of Rs. 120 crore for setting up a plant at Kancheepuram, followed by Johoku Manufacturing to set up a plant at Rs. 102.1 crore to manufacture auto-components.

To manufacture Axles and gears, Koyama Precision Works would set up a manufacturing facility at Kancheepuram at an investment of Rs. 100.09 crore that would create employment of 100 people.
