  • President Barack Obama shared that he was joining Pinterest, via his official Twitter feed.
In what will surely be the biggest celebrity endorsement for the fledging startup, President Barack Obama has joined Pinterest.

Sharing the news via his official Twitter feed (@BarackObama), US President Barack Obama said "Organizers, infographics, murals, and cake-now pinning all of the above for #Obama2012 on Pinterest".

Barack Obama had won the 2008 election on the back of a huge Internet and social media campaign that connected with young voters. His move to join the hottest new startup, as he steps up his re-election campaign, is a sign that he's set to continue the strategy that proved successful four years ago.

Clean and simple to use, Pinterest attracts people who need to organize the chaos of Internet-age information overload. It serves as an online scrapbook of images they find on the Web, a place to post fashion inspirations, decorating aspirations and more. It's a digital dream collage, a recipe box and a corkboard full of magazine clippings all at once.

The site's popularity has exploded in recent months, making it one of the fastest-growing websites in history. Its ascent to 10 million monthly visitors happened faster than Facebook, Twitter or any other site tracked by comScore.
