The Xbox One X is a little more than a month away but it seems that one of Microsoft’s earlier projects related to the Xbox brand has been made public - the Xbox Watch.

According to Suomi Mobiili (via Google Translate), Microsoft had an Xbox Watch in the works in 2013 for a 2015 release. It would have had a 1.5-inch touchscreen and replaceable wristbands. There would be a magnetic connector for charging too. Rather, Microsoft released the Band wearable, which synced with Xbox Fitness Now.

Nonetheless, under Phil Spencer’s leadership, Xbox has become a different beast. Granted we aren’t seeing as many exclusives or first-party games as we used to or wild projects such as the purported Xbox Watch, giving way to a souped up Xbox One X instead.

It would have been interesting to see how this would have panned out for Microsoft considering that at the time it was concerned with building Xbox as an ecosystem rather than a single device. While that philosophy still holds true, its taken a different shape and form altogether with the Xbox Play Anywhere programme.

However we can’t help but be intrigued as to what Microsoft had in store for the Xbox Watch, more so considering the alleged screen size and functionality in relation to the Xbox One and Windows 10.
