The smart ring category in India is still gaining momentum, with brands like Ultrahuman, Gabit, and Aabo dominating the segment. However, in the coming years, it is expected to be one of the fastest-growing wearable categories in India, alongside smart glass devices. If you're in the market for something new and don't want to invest in a smartwatch, then you might be in the right place. I have been testing the Fittr Hart X2 smart ring for a few weeks, and I'm impressed by its performance. For those unaware, Hart X2 comes from the house of Fittr, which was founded by Jitendra Chouksey (or popularly referred to as JC), a health and fitness entrepreneur.

The Hart smart ring gets all the bells and whistles of a wearable designed to keep you on top of your fitness metrics, but does it become the ultimate choice over a smartwatch? Let's find out.

Living With the Hart X2 Ring: Design, Durability, and Battery Life

I have been a smartwatch user for over 10 years, so the thought of adding another wearable to my everyday routine initially seemed like an additional task to undertake. But the Fittr Hart X2 steadily made a mark with its titanium build with scratch-resistant coating. It's more like a plug-and-play device, which, once worn, can last a few days with all its functionalities intact.

As a smartwatch user, my biggest concern is battery life, as I have to ensure that I charge my smartwatch along with my smartphone, or else battery drain anxiety could ruin my day. However, the Fittr Hart X2 proved me wrong with its impressive battery life, which lasts about 7 days on a single charge. Though the company claims up to 8 days of battery life, in my review process, my ring couldn't last that long. But, when compared to a regular smartwatch that is miles ahead, of course, the smart ring offers limited features and no screen.

For everyday wear, the Fittr Hart X2 is discreet, lightweight, and adds a touch of style to my rather dull office look. It comes in a selection of three colours - Frost Silver, Sterling Gold, and Gun Metal Black. I received the latter for review, and it has a timeless style that complements whatever I wear. As with all smart rings, the first process involves getting a free sizing kit. Once you've selected your size for your preferred finger, place your order, and the ring should arrive in approximately seven days. An important tip when choosing a smart ring size is to always opt for a larger size, as the inward-facing sensors that come into contact with your skin can make the ring feel tighter. Another important tip is to wear the smart ring on the index finger of your non-dominant hand for comfort and convenience. Of course, you are free to wear it on any finger.

The Fittr Hart X2 features a 24mAh non-replaceable LiPo battery and incorporates a host of sensors to measure real-time heart rate, blood oxygen levels, body recovery, body temperature, sleep tracking, stress, step count, calories burned, activity tracking, and VO2 Max. It gets a 5ATM water-resistant rating that makes it swim-proof, and that means you can swim while wearing the Fittr Hart X2.

The charging case quality is not up to standard, and often, when I plug the ring inside the case for charging, I realise after some time that the ring was not properly plugged in, and it didn't charge. It seems the company cut some corners to save some costs with the charging case.

The charging case can fully charge the ring twice, and it takes approximately two hours to charge the ring completely. The case, on the other hand, takes over two hours to charge fully, but the wireless charging of the ring was a good thought by the company.

Not every brand prioritises good software support alongside a good hardware combination, and this is something I have observed over the years of testing thousands of products. Thankfully, Fittr isn't on the same boat. The Hart X2 features full-fledged app support, available on both Android and iOS platforms.

It can store up to 15 days of data offline

The attention to detail on every minute of info is really top-notch. The homepage UI is dedicated to showing a recovery score that's a sum of your overall health metrics. The better the recovery score, the better your fitness routine. The top of the app screen features a battery indicator that displays the smart ring battery alongside a notification icon tab.

The list of key metrics for the Fittr Hart X2 is quite solid, and I can bet that some of the affordable smartwatch brands can't match the set of features offered by this smart ring. You can check your sleep score, which is based on your sleep quality, stress score, strain score (which indicates physical exertion), and an overall recovery score. The list continues with Live heart rate along with resting heart rate, HRV rate, SpO2, VO2 Max, TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), and even skin temperature. Of course, there's also a step counter, which was always off compared to my Apple Watch.

The ring app shows all health data in a nicely stacked way

Talking about daily performance, like I mentioned earlier, this is more of a plug-and-play device, and you can just forget that you're wearing a smart ring. The set of green lights underneath the ring keeps reminding you that this one is indeed a smart ring. Also, I noticed that the green flashlight was too bright at nighttime, and sometimes it was the reason I woke up. I wish the company had a night mode that enabled automatically during nighttime.

During my testing time, I found the Fittr Hart X2 to be a great wearable for tracking fitness distraction-free. Most of the fitness metrics were neck-to-neck, with similar scores on my Apple Watch, including heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and more. The only factor that kept throwing off random figures was the step counter, which was always on the random side, showing figures that were completely off compared to my Apple Watch, which I wear daily. If the Apple Watch showed 10,000 steps by 9 pm, the Fittr Hart X2 would show 900. Apart from this, the Fittr Hart X2 came out as a strong smart ring option for everyday health tracking.

Fittr Hart X2 Smart Ring: Verdict

At Rs. 19,499, the Fittr Hart X2 isn't an affordable smart ring option. This one should appeal to fitness enthusiasts seeking a no-screen, distraction-free device to track their daily health and wellness. The design is solid, and battery life is decent as well. The app integration is also fantastic. The charging case quality could have been better, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker, as you don't need to charge the ring daily. There are plenty of health tracking options and even an option to get a coach to guide you in your fitness regime.

Alternatively, you can consider the Ultrahuman Ring Air, which is priced at Rs. 28,499.
