Really good laptop. Performance is excellent, value is excellent, build guality/keyboard is good but not great.

For the money it's an amazing computer- Mousepad isn't perfect, but it's better than another computers- The screen can be better, but it's a sub $500 laptop with 1080p .... wow- Hard drive can be a little slow, but with 2 hours you can replace it with SSD and do a clean install of Windows 10- Memory.... i got mine with a single 8Gb stick, you can add a 4Gb stick for about nothing (now mine is running with 12Gb)- nVidia 940m is fast enought to play World of Warcraft in High (raids Mid)- 5th Core i5 is just fine

I was looking for a laptop to meet my requirements at 2 to 3 times the price of this machine. I decided to buy this Acer and after dropping in an SSD with a clean Windows 10 install and bringing the RAM up to 16gb I could not be more pleased. I was really surprised about the build quality and how light this 15inch laptop is after the SSD install.

Great for this price

Hands down the best "bang for your buck" in laptops...Period. I added an SSD, so total it was $620. With heavy computing tasks, as a graphic design work station its just as fast my MSI GT70 Dominator (i7 & GTX 870) which was $2000 last year. Now, I cant justify the $1300+ difference. Unless, of course, I was a pro gamer.

So far this works great. There is no opitcal drive which in reality is great for many gamers because it allows for either an easy addition of a Solid State Drive or a optical drive. For the price It is great, no mouse pad problems here. I am in the process of either putting in an optical drive, or more likely putting in a SSD, both are about the same price in the end. Importantly thought the ram is 8GB DDR3L " 1 Rx8 PC3L 12800S" 1600Mhz, which is what most would normally get, I accidently bought one that said it was for Mac but would work on other computers. IT DOES NOT. So just make sure you get the normal PC RAM.Minecraft works great on the standard Intel graphics but works beautifully on the NVIDIA graphics card. I am sure other basic games will work well too. There is a newer version of this computer though now for only a little more.

Really good starter gaming laptop, runs GTA V just fine with all max settings except for texture quality from extra high to high. Othrwise it taxes the laptop.Also some games the laptop will run a little hot and crash out of the game but this is easily fixed by getting a laptop stand that has fans on it. You cannot expect a gaming laptop to run perfect without good airflow underneath it playing on a desk all day.For what I wanted, needed, I am very satisfied and you have to be realistic about the cooling issue.Otherwise 5/5

This is a great computer for the money. Very fast and even can run most of my games.

Very nice looking and user friendly

Entry level gaming laptop. Can't beat the price for what you get. I would recommend getting something with intel i7 if you are serious about gaming speed and performance, but nonetheless this is a great entry level gaming laptop.

I'm not a gamer, so I didn't need anything super fancy, but I did want something capable that wouldn't be completely obsolete in a month. I wanted something that could handle multiple applications at once and switch between them quickly and easily. The laptop is great out of the box, but I did upgrade a couple of things: I swapped out the hard drive for a Samsung 250 GB solid state drive and added another 8 GB of RAM to bump the total to 16 GB. I turned the 1T hard drive into an external drive for backups and storage. Now, this little laptop is crazy fast, completely silent, lightweight, and always cool to the touch! Doing the upgrades was a little bit of a pain because there are about 16 little screws to take out and I was afraid I was going to break the plastic case while opening it, but it worked out fine. Even with the extra cost of the SSD and RAM, I feel like I got a good bang for my buck and couldn't be happier. I will add, though, that even without the upgrades, this laptop is a great choice for school, work, and everyday computing. The case is entirely plastic, not metal, if that is a consideration for you. I don't mind the plastic and it still looks nice, I think.

This is an outstanding laptop, particularly for the price. Runs most newer games at high quality graphics. Have run Battlefield 4, Call of Duty World at War, Crysis, Fallout 4, and more with no problems. Stays cool even when playing games for hours. Love this laptop.

Amazing experience, nice brushed texture on the the laptop, meets MORE than my expectation. Getting the disk partitioned and loaded with stuff by a pro..... can't wait to start using it!!! Love the packaging too.

This is an un noticed gem. Has an independent graphics card with on board GPU, 8 gigs of ram. For this price. It's a steal.Looks and works great. A must buy for people who want a better option when viewing videos over laptops that share memory.It does work faster. Came fast, works great.

Very nice, computer. Light weight, bought it to play World of Warcraft and it runs great with this computers specs. Haven't gotten to any raids yet to determine if I will get lag in them but runs smoothly on default settings while questing or running instances.

10/10 tbh, way better than expected.

Good laptop good price

Outstanding laptop for the money. No complaints except that it doesn't have a dvd drive. But an external drive didn't cost much and works fine. Glad I bought this computer. Fast with great resolution.

Really happy with this computer! I was coming from a Dell XPS L501x that had served me well for over 5 years. It was still working but the battery was shot and it was starting to get slow. Also, I was really looking for something that could manage a little bit of gaming.You can't find anything else even close for the price as this computer. I paid $500 for this thing. It's relatively thin and light, and plays Skyrim on high settings. The great thing about the chipset in here is that its low power, so the power brick is very small. As someone who transports this thing every day, weight was an issue for me.I would say perhaps the only negative is the slow hard drive. I could have installed an SSD, but then the price starts to creep again. My goal was to have a solid, fast computer that can do a little gaming as well as the work for my job. You will see the slow hard drive when you're loading a level in a game, but for the price I can most definitely live with that.All in all a really solid buy. I'm very happy with this computer.

I absolutely love this laptop! I bought it not with high hopes of it playing my game, but rather just for general computing/internet usage. I did a complete erase/reinstall of win10 as recommended by everyone and it is SUPER fast. Boot up is less than a minute. I have not yet even installed an SSD drive, but have intentions to do so in the future. I am blown away by being able to play my one and only game, Lord of the Rings Online, at fairly decent game settings. Textures and most other graphic settings are on high/ultra high. I do have some graphic items set to disabled, but those are unimportant things to me and the game plays great so I am extremely happy. The keyboard is great, I have disabled the touchpad because I am not a fan of those on ANY laptop, and always use my own usb mouse. I wasted over $700 on my last laptop that could not play my game at all and I spent extra money just for that and it was a complete failure. $500 well spent. Highly recommend this laptop.

This laptop has suited my need for a "cheap" budget friendly portable gaming machine. It's capable to run most games at half to full resolution, ranging from Medium to max settings. That claim also really depends on the game, but it can handle nearly anything at 30+ playable frame rates. Even GTA V was good with medium-high settings.. Older games like Battlefield BC2 will run on on max settings upward of 60fps. The most taxing game to run was fallout 4 which struggles around 30 to mid 20s in the open world.Its hard to find a new laptop packing the features for this price range ($500 at the time of purchase) that has a dedicated 940m 2Gb Nvidia chip, i5 5200u, and 1080p screen. All of these are nice to have for mid range performance. The battery life has also been decent ranging between 4-6 hours of continuous browsing, drawing, and movies.However in order to make this a decent laptop, it is an absolute must to install an SSD and re-install Windows. The included 1TB western digital drive pre-installed with Windows 10 and bloatware limit this laptops true responsive potential. Also, if anyone is wondering Windows 7 is supported. You just need to use drivers found on a similar spec laptop and everything works except for what I can guess is a TPM module in Windows 7, Something that can't be disabled in BIOS. Also at the time of this writing Linux is not very well supported.I can't find any bad complaints in the screen or trackpad like everyone has been griping about. They're good enough in my opinion and not at all distracting from the overall value. Yes there are better laptops out there with nicer screens for a higher price, but this is built to give you the best bang for your buck.The screen on this is crisp and the color vivid. After 1 1/2 months of using it everything is still holding together. Just make sure you take care of it.

I love this laptop. I has a great processor and runs the programs I need very well. I am very pleased with this laptop.

This laptop is the sh....bomb. Yes, the casing is hard plastic. But the guts and the power behind it are super fast. No lag on video, no delay in opening files or downloading and installing.One issue that I overcame in a few days was the keyboard. The full size numerical pad off sets the keys to the left. I was mistyping stuff and got frustrated but as I said, no issues after a few days.The only other issue is the built in mouse pad. I tend to hit it as i type. Still getting used to it. It's also not the best but I also got a mouse and so its not a big deal.Its very light and I've had battery life for up to 8 hours.It didn't have that much bloatware either. And my advice is just to uninstall it through the windows utility, don't download the stuff on CNET, etc.Bottom line, this is a great laptop for the price.the Wire cutter also reviewed it and for me that was the difference.Oh, this came with Win 10 installed, again, no issues.
