Facebook is planning content production apps for Oculus VR, said company's Chief Product Officer Chris Cox at the Code/ Media conference on Tuesday.

Speaking to Re/ code's Senior Editor Peter Kafka, Cox said Facebook is working on apps for its $2 billion purchase, the Oculus VR, which may involve content produced by users and more. Although he didn't detail anything on how users will be able to create VR videos from those apps and how will it work out on the Oculus VR headset.

"I mean, virtual reality is pretty cool. We're working on apps for VR," said Cox.

Further talking about video experience in the Oculus VR, Cox added, "you realize, when you're in it, that you're looking at the future, and it's going to be awesome. When you're in Facebook, you're just sending around these bits of experience - a photo, a video, a thought," whereas with VR, you could be "sending a fuller picture."

While all these are not near future things, as Cox also admits, there is one thing that Facebook has done already last month - that is open an in-house studio dedicated to making virtual reality films. Called the Oculus' Story Studio, it will mainly develop VR film content and advise other film-makers seeking to try the technology. Oculus' Chief Executive Brendan Iribe described it as "a real-time version of a Pixar experience that you're inside of."
