Slim and light laptops are becoming more affordable, and it's always good to see manufacturers paying attention to what people really want. If, like me, you spend most of your day using a laptop and have to carry it with you wherever you go, it had better not become a burden. Thankfully modern laptops use slim SSDs and CPUs that don't require very heavy cooling, and of course it's safe now to drop optical drives and several legacy ports, all of which help.

Asus ZenBook 14 (UX425) Summary

The Asus ZenBook UX425JA is extremely slim and light, with a 14-inch screen in a body the size of most 13-inch laptops. The design is neutral and serves well for productivity on the go. The keyboard has dedicated paging keys plus a good layout, and the trackpad doubles as a touch-sensitive number pad. You get full-sized USB and HDMI ports plus two Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports, but no 3.5mm audio socket which is a controversial omission. The screen is non-reflective and the IR webcam is placed above it. Asus' ErgoLift hinge raises the back of the lower deck for better airflow.

The ZenBook UX425JA runs relatively quiet. Performance is good, thanks to the 10th Gen Intel 'Ice Lake' CPU and fast PCIe SSD. You can get lots of work done, but don't expect any games or heavy content creation software to run smoothly. Battery life is good but doesn't quite match up to Asus' claims. Overall, this is an expensive but competent ultraportable laptop.

  • Thin & light with great performance.
Amazon Customer (Aug 7, 2020) on Amazon
Very thin and light laptop with ports like HDMI, USB type C thunderbolt 3 and Normal USB port (type A), it was great to see a LAN connector within the box. Also there was a connecotor for Type C to 3.5 mm jack for Headphones.

  • Solid 5 stars for medium level user
Mahendra (Oct 22, 2020) on Amazon
ProsLightweight, slim and good screen to body ratioDoes not heat on regular use (browsing, watching videos and running some programs)Good speed and future proof technology... Shall last another 5 years without issueSolid bodyThoughtfully designed keyboard with good key travelDisplay is goodConsFor a light to medium user (work 4 to 5 hours every day on browsing, video watching and running programs like javascript, python, or softwares like visual studio) this is a great laptop. For heavy users desktop is the right option unless one is ready to pay more or willing to loose compact design.Battery life is at least 4 times less (~5hours) than claimed by Asus. All in all user is paying for the slim and neat design on this one and this laptop is a good bargain in the slim and lightweight laptop feature segment.

  • Fabulous!
Bhargav Hegde (Aug 30, 2020) on Flipkart
Well after a lot of reviews and comparison I have decided to go for this laptop, let's start with pro Pro: 1) Face Unlock - This is not just a webcam, it is IR camera, meaning it will only unlock when it detects your face and you can't fool it 2) Audio - I really liked the speaker sound, bass is good. 3) Battery - Battery can easily last for about 7 hrs. 4) Display - As Asus claims this display has 100% sRGB gamut, it looks really good due to very thin bezels. 5) Touchpad 2.0 - Touch pad will also work as your num-pad, you can activate this by simply pressing a button and you can also adjust the brightness Con's: 1) Webcam isn't great, though it is just fine during good lighting conditions, gets blurry when lighting conditions get bad. Overall it is a best laptop in this segment, for your office and personal use, well you can go for it.
