Highlights
  • God of War 4 will be shown at Sony's E3 2016 conference.
  • It might feature a new protagonist.
  • The Last of Us 2 is being prototyped and will not be at the show.

Earlier in the month we predicted that Sony will show off God of War 4 at E3 2016. This will probably come to fruition. Reason being, the news now comes from industry insider Shinobi602 whose track record of leaks is solid. Earlier he let it slip that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will take place in space and that there will be a Skyrim Remaster (which we also predicted earlier).

E3 2016 will be the "big coming out party for God of War 4," he said on an episode of Video Game Sophistry - video game radio show. He also stated that God of War series hero Kratos is "most likely" in the game, though he may not be the protagonist. Additionally, if the game is indeed real, it might not be called God of War 4, he claimed.

As for The Last of Us 2, he suggested that developer Naughty Dog was at least prototyping this game, though he said it's unlikely it will be announced at E3. Makes sense considering that the studio's last game, Uncharted 4 was met with critical and commercial success. A little breathing space is apt.

We've seen Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, and Uncharted on the PS4, but barring God of War 3 Remastered, there's been very little in the way of Sony's greek-god-killing mascot. While we do know that God of War 4 is set in Norse mythology thanks to the portfolio of an artist who worked on it, an official reveal would still be nice. Could God of War 4 be Sony's "One More Thing" at E3 2016? We won't have to wait too long to find out.
