Stealth-based indie video game Volume launched in August - for PlayStation 4, Windows, and OS X - to much praise, and now maker Mike Bithell has announced that the game will finally be making its way to Sony's portable console PlayStation Vita on January 5, after a delay of five months.

"I know how many of you have been waiting eagerly for this version of the game," Bithell said. "It's been a source of frustration for me that we didn't get to release it alongside the other platforms. We missed our launch day for personal reasons, but having missed that date, we decided to take the opportunity to pour a great deal of attention into the Vita version, learning from the feedback other platforms were getting, and working hard to ensure that this game was worth the wait," he added.

The game will continue to honour the cross-buy promise on PlayStation, which means if you already bought it for PS4, you will get it for free on the Vita. And in case you haven't bought it yet and decide to purchase it for your PS Vita next month, it'll be made available to you on the PS4 too.

There's news for computer gamers too. The game is currently on sale - 50 percent off - during the Steam Winter Sale which lasts until January 4.

The first expansion for Volume - titled Volume: Coda - remains on track to be a launch title for PlayStation VR, and will allow players to enjoy the game's existing core campaign and all the user-generated levels in VR as well.

In our review, we gave it a 9 out of 10 stating it was "one of the finer stealth games we [had] played in a long time" due to its intuitive and fine-tuned controls and the attention to detail throughout.
