Every week, we look at the way leaders from different fields use technology in our regular column, Personally Tech. It's a chance to look at how people who run some of the most high profile technology businesses operate, and we've checked out the gadgets used by people heading startups like Jabong, Fabfurnish, and Ola.
This week, we caught up with Harsh Kundra, co-founder, product, and technology head at Tolexo, an online store for business supplies and tools, and equipment for construction and custodial use. Kundra, who was earlier the CTO of Jabong, tells us about the apps and gadgets that he can't live without.
1. Describe your technology setup - what computer/ phone/ tablet/ camera/ gaming console/ other gadgets do you use?
Harsh Kundra: Gadgets or devices that I use include a 15-inch Apple Retina MacBook Pro, a Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2, and an iPad Air. I also have an Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, and the Bose Soundlink Mini speakers.
2. What are three apps (mobile/ tablet or PC/ Mac) you couldn't live without?
Harsh Kundra: I do a good amount of reading and couldn't live without my Feedly news reader app. I often use YouTube with offline mode to download videos and watch them during my drive back home from office. And finally, Sublime Text editor is always open on my Mac.
3. What is the one gadget (other than your phone) you never travel without?
Harsh Kundra: I rarely travel without my bag, which carries my MacBook Pro, my Yoga Tablet, and two headphones.
4. What is your dream gadget/ technology setup?
Harsh Kundra: Last few days I have been researching on standing desks. These are quite popular in US and you can find a few on eBay India. My ideal work setup would include such a standing desk, two Apple Thunderbolt monitors (one horizontal and one vertical) connected to a MacBook, an ergonomic keyboard by Kinesis, and an Apple touchpad.
5. How has technology changed the way in which you work?
Harsh Kundra: Internet and mobile technologies have totally transformed work communication and made it super easy and efficient. Can you imagine an office without an email system? And now thanks to Google Hangouts and WhatsApp, I can be in constant touch with my teams.
