Marred with the reports of poor search results and unwanted implementation of "Search plus Your World", search engine giant Google is going for a major refresh in the coming months to keep its competitive edge.
As per
reports, Google will be giving more than just website results for users queries and will also present direct answers, and other factual information. These changes are being termed as the biggest in the company's history, and will also have impact on millions of webmasters across the globe.
Company is now aiming to provide more relevant search results to its users by implementing "semantic search", which can be described as the process of understanding the actual meaning of words. So, rather than taking the users' queries like a bunch of keywords, Google's servers will try and figure out the actual meaning.
According to Google search executive Amit Singhal, Google search will work more like "how humans understand the world". So, if you will search "what is the number of lakes in Nainital"; Google might just give you the answer rather than showing the usual list of websites. Company's search engine already gives out answers to easier questions like calculations or currency conversion or theatre timings, but the upcoming makeover will take it to an all new level.
These changes are also expected to increase the user-stay on Google pages, which is right now very small, giving the company more space or inventory to show advertisements.
Still recognized for its search engine despite many other services under its belt, Google has struggled to innovate in 'Search' and the upcoming refresh is a truly needed one.
