Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system will be hitting the market on July 29; though everyone won't be able download the new OS on that date. Microsoft on Thursday in a blog revealed some details about Windows 10's phased rollout, which will start with users on the Windows Insider programme. Terry Myerson, Microsoft's Executive Vice President of Operating Systems, explained that the Windows 10 will be rolling out to consumers in "phases."

"We want to make sure all of you have a great upgrade experience, so we'll roll out Windows 10 in phases to help manage the demand," said Myerson. On July 29, Windows 10 will start rolling out to members of the Windows Insider program. The company confirmed that it will start notifying the reserved systems in waves. Explaining this to be an attempt to ensure consumers have the "best upgrade experience", Myerson says Microsoft will update the upgrade process based on how the rollout is progressing.

"Starting on July 29, we will start rolling out Windows 10 to our Windows Insiders. From there, we will start notifying reserved systems in waves, slowly scaling up after July 29th. Each day of the roll-out, we will listen, learn and update the experience for all Windows 10 users," Myerson explained.

If any user has reserved a copy of Window 10, Microsoft will notify the user once the compatibility is checked and the new OS has been downloaded on the system. In case the system is not ready to upgrade to Windows 10, Microsoft will provide details to the user about the upgrade experience.

Myerson also revealed that Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Home versions will be available to download on July 29 for users who reserved a copy alongside members of Windows Insiders program. Businesses who booked Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education will have to wait a little more, as it will start rolling out on August 1 for them.

"Volume licensing customers will be able to download Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education on Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) starting on August 1," notes Myerson.

Microsoft will be handing over the builds of Windows 10 to its OEM partners soon. The Redmond giant will then distribute builds of Windows 10 to retailers across the world soon after. The company advises users to check for sticker for assurance that OEM partners have tested the device with Windows 10.
