10.or D Android 8.1 Oreo Update Starts Rolling Out With June Security Patch

0.or D was launched by Amazon India with Android 7.1.2 Nougat in December last year.

10.or D, the budget smartphone offered by Amazon India that was launched in December last year, has now started receiving Android 8.1 Oreo. The new software update also brings the June Android security patch as well as a bunch of "general stabilities fixes". The 10.or D debuted with Android 7.1.2 Nougat, though Amazon confirmed an update to Android Oreo at the time of its launch late last year. The handset with a starting price tag of Rs. 4,999 takes on the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 5A that runs MIUI 9 on top of Android Nougat.

The Android Oreo update for the 10.or D comes in 1.2GB of size and is rolling out through an over-the-air (OTA) package. It brings all the key features of Android 8.1 Oreo, including a refreshed Settings page and a coloured navigation bar that dims when scrolled towards the bottom. Similarly, there are Android Oreo features such as the Picture-in-Picture mode, Notification Dots, and Smart Text Selection among others.

Alongside the stock Android Oreo experience, the latest 10.or D update brings general stability fixes. This means we can expect an overall performance improvement as well. An Amazon spokesperson has confirmed Gadgets 360 that the update comes with the June 2018 security patch. This means there will be tweaks to enhance user security and privacy as well.

Moreover, with the arrival of Android 8.1 Oreo, the 10.or D has become a sweeter option under Rs. 6,000 price bracket in India. It has also made the competition tougher for affordable Android Go models such as the Lava Z50 and Nokia 1 that runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition), which is a lighter version of the original Android 8.1 Oreo.
