The newly launched devices are sub Rs. 5,000 segment smartphones, likely to be the successors of the Karbonn A1 and Karbonn A5 smartphones launched by the company, earlier.
The Karbonn Smart A1 Star features a 3.5-inch HVGA display with a resolution of 320x480 pixels. It is powered by a 1GHz processor with 256MB RAM. There is a 3-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. It includes 512MB internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB through microSD card.
The Karbonn A1 Star runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and is a dual SIM device (GSM+GSM) that supports dual standby. Connectivity options include GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB. Other features include FM radio, audio/ video player, Opera Mini & UC browser and the phone comes with a 1450mAh battery.
The Karbonn Smart A5 Star sports a 3.2-inch HVGA display with a resolution of 320x480 pixels. Just like the Karbonn Smart A1 Star, the Smart A5 Star too is powered by a 1GHz processor coupled with 256MB RAM. It offers 512MB internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. The device features a 3.2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera. The Karbonn Smart A5 Star runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which is a huge disappointment considering the Karbonn Smart A1 Star runs an upgraded version of the OS. The device supports dual SIM functionality with GSM+GSM support and comes with a 1200mAh battery. It includes connectivity options like GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and also supports Wi-Fi Tethering.
Last week, Karbonn Mobiles rolled out the A29 for the Indian market through online retailer, Saholic for Rs. 8,990.
The Karbonn A29 sports a 4.7-inch qHD display and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It sports an 8.0-megapixel rear auto-focus camera with LED flash and a 2.0-megapixel front camera for self-portrait shots. There is 4GB internal storage available which can be expanded up to 32GB. It is a dual SIM (GSM+GSM) device with dual standby support. Other features include FM Radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G, GPRS and EDGE. Backing the device is a 2,000mAh battery. It runs Android 4.1.
