Earlier this week, Motorola's Support Twitter account, while replying to a user's query about the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, confirmed that the company is still working on the update for the handset.

-- Motorola Support (@MotorolaSupport) February 9, 2015The company has revealed that it is working on the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Moto X; though it has been struggling with hardware issue as the handset is backed by the dated dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. Unfortunately, we still don't have a date for the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the first-generation Moto X.
Last month, Motorola software engineer Luciano Carvalho confirmed that the first-generation Moto X would receive all major features of the Moto X (Gen 2) that are not dependent on hardware.
Carvalho however clarified that the first generation Moto X would not receive features such as Best Photo from Camera/Gallery and the Moto Actions features that are dependent on the IR sensors. He confirmed that the Moto X (Gen 1) would receive the new Moto Voice app.
Motorola India this week is celebrating its anniversary in the Indian market and is offering a number of benefits on purchase of Moto devices via exclusive online partner, Flipkart. The new offers are valid on the purchase of the Moto E, Moto G (Gen 2), Moto X (Gen 2), Google Nexus 6 and Moto 360 via Flipkart from February 9 to 15.
