Nextbit, the maker of the cloud-based smartphone Robin, after claiming to solve the smartphone storage problem, now says it can 'significantly' improve the battery life of its handsets In a community post, the company confirmed that it will release a new version of Nextbit OS in Q4, based on Android N.

The latest update will be focused on improving battery life on the Nextbit Robin smartphone. The company stressed that its new version of Nextbit OS will optimise functions at the system level to ensure improved battery life.

The company said, "We can apply the same intelligence we've used for smart storage towards making your battery last significantly longer. In Q4 we will launch a new version of Nextbit OS that gets to know your habits and optimises functions at the system level to ensure you get the most screen time possible. Just like with smart storage, we can apply this on top of the features Google has implemented in Marshmallow and even on what has been announced for N, compounding the power savings to offer you true peace of mind."

The recently announced Nextbit beta testing programme will give users the chance to use the new software ahead of time.

Recently Nextbit reduced the price of its handset globally to $299 (approximately Rs. 20,000) regardless of the location. To refresh, the cloud-based smartphone was initially unveiled last year and was priced at $399 (approximately Rs. 26,400). The Nextbit Robin smartphone was launched last month in India priced at Rs. 19,999. It was be available exclusively from Flipkart.

Earlier this month, Nextbit rolled out a software update to Robin smartphone adding security patches, and other tweaks. Nextbit made some changes to the speaker volume and added two more ringtones for more choices. The update also brought Android security patches for the month of June, apart from several other improvements and bug fixes.
