The fabled Nokia EOS phone might turn out to be the much touted Windows Phone equivalent of Nokia's acclaimed 808 PureView phone if a new rumour is to be believed.

Windows Phone focused website WMPowerUser claims to have received a tip about the new camera centric phone from someone who appears to have seen a prototype. The site quotes the tipster to inform that the phone's body is made of polycarbonate material just like the recent Nokia Lumia phones (barring the Lumia 925) and has the same thickness as that of the Lumia 920 but it's lighter than the Lumia 920 which is one of the bulkiest phones out there. To give the device a slimmer profile, it's tapered at the edges.

The phone appears to have an AMOLED screen with the same resolution and size as that of the Lumia 920's screen. The Lumia 920 has a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 768x1280. The speaker outlet are located at the bottom of the handsets.

While the device doesn't indicate the resolution of the camera camera and the label just reads "XX megapixels," the phone's camera lens is placed in a round housing that doesn't protrude much and has a cover that automatically opens when the camera app is fired. People who were expecting the Nokia Lumia 925 to sport a Xenon flash would be happy to know that the prototype of the forthcoming phone had a Xenon flash and a red LED focus assist light similar to point and shoot cameras.

The tipster goes on to inform that the phone features a new  "Nokia Pro Camera" app that has a refreshed interface, while the regular camera app is also available. The camera interface also offers manual focus.  It's not surprising given that Nokia recently launched the Lumia 925 with a new Nokia Smart Camera app that offers additional camera features including the ability to capture ten images at once and edit the pictures with options like Best Shot, Action Shot, and Motion Focus. This app can be set as the default camera app. So Nokia's closing the gap when it comes to imaging on its Windows Phone devices with some help from its software innovation to cover up for the platform's limitations.

There's no information on when the Finnish company plans to release the handset but it did hint during the Lumia 925 launch that it will make another announcement later in Summer. Rumours of the real PureView Windows Phone have been floating for a long time and some had even expected the company to release it last week but perhaps Nokia wants to spread launch announcements throughout summer to create buzz around its Lumia devices which are still struggling to get the consumer's attention.
