Samsung Galaxy Note 4 With Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Launched at Rs. 61,500

Samsung on Tuesday launched the Galaxy Note 4 in India. The company says the smartphone will be available on Friday - in time for the festive Diwali season in the country, and the same day as Apple's iPhone 6 Plus.

The South Korean manufacturer has given the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 an MRP of Rs. 61,500, and a market operating price between Rs. 58,300 and Rs. 58,500. This year's flagship phablet from Samsung was unveiled at the company's pre-IFA 2014 event in September. The company also launched its 3G-capable Gear S smartwatch in India, with an MRP of Rs. 29,500 (and an MOP of Rs. 28,900). Samsung confirmed the Note 4 Edge will be launched in India, but didn't provide a timeline.

As an introductory offer, Vodafone is offering up to 2GB of data per month for subscribers who are not active on data packs. Subscribers with active data packs will get up to 1GB per month for two months. The offer will be activated in 48 hours on first Vodafone SIM inserted in Galaxy Note 4 before April 30 2015.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and features a 5.7-inch Quad-HD (1440x2560 pixel) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 515ppi. It weighs in at 176 grams, and is 8.5mm-thick. The company has announced it comes preloaded with support for 14 regional Indian languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya and Assamese.

The Galaxy Note 4 will be available in India in its 4G LTE variant with an 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor instead of the 1.9GHz octa-core (1.9GHz quad-core + 1.3GHz quad-core) Samsung processor - unusual, as the company normally launches the Exynos version of its flagship smartphones in the country. It comes with 3GB of RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 features a 16-megapixel autofocus rear camera with Smart OIS, and a 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/1.9 lens. It comes with 32GB of built-in storage, and expandability via microSD card (up to 64GB). Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS/ Glonass, NFC, Bluetooth v4.0, IR LED, USB 2.0, and MHL 3.0.

The Galaxy Note 4 features an accelerometer, geo-magnetic sensor, gyroscope, RGB, IR-LED, proximity, barometer, hall sensor, finger scanner, UV, heart rate monitor. It comes with a 3220mAh battery and Adaptive Fast Charging that according to the company charges from 0 to 50 percent in 30 minutes.

Samsung is also touting the Multi-Window feature available from the Recent button. The Galaxy Note 4 will be available in Charcoal Black, Frost White, Bronze Gold, and Blossom Pink.

It will be available in Charcoal Black, Frost White, Bronze Gold, and Blossom Pink.

The Tizen-based Gear S that was also launched by Samsung was unveiled in August ahead of IFA 2014. It allows users to make and receive calls via 2G or 3G, and also offers Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi connectivity. Samsung says the smartwatch will always remain connected, and can also switch between multiple networks to stay synchronised with the paired smartphone.
