Samsung Galaxy S II Plus and Galaxy S III Mini may land in Q4

Samsung seems to be planning to capitalise on the success of two of its very popular smartphones by launching their variants. This not the first time that Samsung is doing this, it launched several variant of Galaxy S too.

Dubbed as Samsung Galaxy S II Plus and Galaxy S III Mini, these smartphones are rumoured to arrive in the last quarter of this calendar year.

According to online reports as well as product listing at Chile telecom operator website, the Galaxy S II Plus will come with Android 4.0, 4.52-inch display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera and 16GB of internal storage.

On the other hand, Galaxy S III Mini will sport 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, 5MP camera and a dual core processor.

The online reports also suggest that Galaxy S III Mini will cost around $200, while S II Plus will retail for $250-350. We are yet to see an image of Galaxy S III Mini, but Galaxy S II Plus has been leaked in the above press shot.

Samsung, which emerged as the world's top smartphone maker last year, said in February that sales of Galaxy S II topped 20 million handsets since its launch in April last year. The Galaxy S II sports a 1 GHz dual-core processor, 8 MP camera, 1080p video camcorder, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 n, DLNA, HDMI out and support HSPA+ network. The phone shipped with Android 2.3 to start with, but company recently started rolling out the Android 4.0 update. New units of the Galaxy S II are shipping with Android 4.0 update.

On the other hand, company's latest flagship smartphone Galaxy S III has already sold more than 10 million units worldwide. It comes with Android 4.0, 1.4GHz quad core processor, 8MP rear camera, front camera, 1GB RAM and 4.65-inch 720p display. We are also hearing the company plans to release a black version of the device very soon.
