Samsung Galaxy S8's Bixby Assistant to Get Full Functionality, Wider Language Support in Q4

With the launch of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ flagship smartphones, the South Korean company also introduced its Bixby digital assistant but it was soon noted that it comes with support for just two languages - English and Korean. Now it seems like the new digital assistant will be getting support for more languages, at least German, in the fourth quarter this year. Alongside, Bixby will get wider functionality compared to what's currently on offer.

As per a support page on Samsung's official German website, the support for German as well as full-functionality will be coming to the Bixby digital assistant in fourth quarter this year. The page was first spotted by GSMArena. Notably, fourth quarter is usually when company's Galaxy Note devices are made available.

Considering that Samsung might be looking to launch its next phablet around the same time, it is possible that Bixby will be provided support for more languages and possibly more features at the launch of next smartphone in Note series.

Last month Samsung launched its Bixby assistant, which helps users with features like image recognition and location awareness among other things. It can be accessed with the help of a dedicated button. However, later on it was found that there was a way to customise this key to launch any app of user's choice. As many users might prefer Google Assistant simply because of its support for many more languages, this button can be customised to launch Google's AI-based digital assistant as well.
