World's largest chipmaker Intel Corporation has unveiled the Intel Sensing Platform for enabling mobile-based healthcare delivery to masses.

"Our new chip, combining hardware, mobility, analytics and cloud-based technology enables doctors and hospitals to provide affordable personal healthcare for masses," the US-based company's Indian subsidiary said in a statement in Bangalore on Monday.

The Intel Sensing Platform, showcased at the CeBIT India IT event in Bangalore last week, has been designed to meet the specific consumer needs of India and other emerging markets and can also be used to create applications for different consumer segments.

The research and development centre of the US-based company's Indian subsidiary in this tech hub has contributed in developing the new platform.

"We are harnessing the power of chip technology to create a paradigm shift in the way people, businesses and government agencies work with a host of smart and connected devices," Intel India president Kumud Srinivasan said on the occasion.

Underlying the significance of computing in the digital world to transform businesses and enrich lives of people, Srinivasan said as an affordable solution, the new platform had become more immersive, perceptive and social to enhance user experience and productivity.

"Our local and frugal innovations will help in building enabling technologies for the government's Digital India plans spanning infrastructure, e-governance, utilities, literacy and empowerment of citizens," Srinivasan pointed out.
