The Phicomm Energy 653 is the second handset from the Chinese manufacturer that made its debut in India with the Passion 660 (Review | Pictures).Its maiden attempt targeted the lower mid-range segment and proved to be a noble effort, but not without its share of shortcomings. The new Energy 653 is a budget offering which targets the entry-level smartphone user.
Other than the ZTE Blade QLUX 4G, this is the only smartphone in India that costs less than Rs. 5,000 and supports 4G. Like all newcomers in the smartphone space, Phicomm is yet to establish itself as a trusted brand in the minds of users. Let's see if the Energy 653 brings it a step closer to that goal.

The Phicomm Energy 653 is a well-built handset that manages to check all the right boxes for someone looking for a basic 4G smartphone. The Snapdragon 210 SoC is powerful enough to handle most tasks and ensures that Android Lollipop stays smooth. It supports 4G which will work in India. It has 8GB of onboard storage that’s expandable by 64GB and a clear and crisp 5-inch HD IPS display. Some basic features like a notification LED and backlit capacitive buttons are absent, which would have been nice to have. Also, the camera and battery life could have been better as well. Overall though, the Energy 653 makes a compelling buy for cash -strapped buyers looking for a 4G smartphone.

Very Fine...Shiva Sai (Jan 2, 2016) on Gadgets 360Phicomm Energy 653 is a very good device. And the second cheapest 4G LTE Phone after Lenovo A2010. At Rs. 5000 we couldn't expect any more from it. Its Contrast, Brightness of the 5-Inch 720X1280p Screen are very good. In my opinion we have found a device with 1.1GHz Snapdragon chip set we could play mid range games very well. When i have tried Subway Surf(for 30 min. continuous surfing) I could find some skip in the frames. And on Modern Combat 3 went fine without no lags. But this device has minimal amount of heating problem. It generally reaches 41 Degrees Celsius after continuous gaming over 15 Minutes which is so bad. The quality of speakers were fine. It is weighs a feather, on my first look i felt its just phone without a battery,Lol :-).The 4G Services hosted by Airtel reached up to 22.7 Mb/ps I hope it could do more.But the disadvantage is we cant find many of accessories mostly Flip Covers. There is only one 1 Flip cover available in all the online shopping carts on Amazon only and few Tempered glass. In the box we can see a Screen cover , Battery, Documentation. But we can not find Ear Phones. It's an okay phone at Rs.4999.Is this review helpful?
