US vice president now on Twitter

US Vice President Joe Biden has sent out his first-ever tweet.

Biden's July 4 tweet asked Americans to think about US troops and military families on the Independence Day.

The Daily Telegraph reported that Biden's office announced the move with a post on the White House blog.

Biden's Twitter user name is @VP. His tweets, however, will be written by the staff.
