Bought this laptop for my mother as she needs something for very basic computing - office work mostly. I bought an Acer laptop earlier with an AMD A10 CPU and it was good enough.After discount I paid Rs 15,490 for it.Pros:1) AMD A4-7210 - it's an old CPU but when combined with the Radeon R3 graphics it's more than enough for everyday use. The average Joe would be tempted to go for the similarly-priced Intel version (Celeron N3060) but keep in mind it's a very VERY weak processor. You may get better battery life in that one since it has only 6W TDP (AMD A4 is 15W) but I think at this price point you want all the performance you can get.2) Design - Considering the old chipset used in the laptop I thought it was an old piece but to my surprise this is a very modern design - the exhaust vent for the CPU cooler is at the back! For most laptops (Except gaming models) it's on the side. It's not very light but what do you expect for this price. The touchpad is large and offers a very good feel, bring a Precision piece (means it can do Windows 10 gestures)3) Genuine Windows 10 - My sister paid Rs 7200 for a genuine copy of Win10 so seeing it preloaded in this thing is quite nice.4) DVD drive! Did not expect it to be included (frankly I didn't check the specs before buying it) but here it is. Considering there are 4 laptops in the family now, this is only the 2nd one to have a CD drive. Good when one needs it occasionally.5) No heating - My other Acer laptop with the AMD A10 can get hot in Performance mode (temps easily breach 65�C), but this one stays really cool throughout (rarely goes beyond 50�C). In fact thermal management is so good that this thing runs with the fan off on low loads.6) Keyboard is good - The chiclet keyboard design is really good and typing feels nice. Come on Acer, add backlighting and you're king! How much do a couple of LEDs cost anyway?7) Extended warranty - Acer is/was running extended warranty offer for all laptops until 31/01/2019. I bought 2nd and 3rd year warranty extension for only Rs 471. I think that's amazing. They also have some other offer wherein you can buy a Blaupunkt BT 51 speaker for Rs 1269 (selling for 1600 everywhere at the time of writing this).Cons:1) Down-firing speaker - This is also the case with the Acer laptop that I use. For best output you should tilt the base of the laptop up, such that the speakers tilt towards you.2) No VGA/D-sub! - Not a big deal for me but would have been nice to have it. HDMI is included though.3) Many ports are at the rear of the laptop - 2 USB ports, charging port, 1 Ethernet port and the HDMI port are at the back! Don't understand why as the entire left of the laptop is devoid of ports. However card reader, 3.5mm port and 1 USB 2.0 port are on the right so it's not all bad.4) Battery life is mediocre - expect 2-3 hours at best. If you want battery life at the cost of performance, you will have to tweak settings in Windows Power Management for best results. This is due to the old CPU as well as the small battery capacity of the laptop (it's only 32-34 Whr).All said and done, the cons are somewhat minor, and for the price I'm more than satisfied to have bought this for my mum. Potential buyers should note that if the laptop feels slow after purchase, it's because Windows is installing updates in the background and this will take at least 5-10 hours and 1-2 restarts on a hard drive (you can leave the laptop plugged in and walk away as you will not see any indication of this on the screen.) After a week of usage you can expect performance to improve.P. S. Make sure to register your laptop on Acer India's website to activate 1yr warranty (this is not extension, just to get your standard warranty going, you need to register the laptop on their website).
