  • Excellent!
Timbo (May 24, 2017) on Amazon
Perfect size, excellent performance! I also like that it the styling is very subdued no big chunky red spaceship trim or huge obnoxious looking grills. The soft touch on the bottom is pleasant, and the brushed feel/look material everywhere else is great! The most intense activity that I use this for is emulation, and so far it hasn't had any problem for anything from SNES to N64 to PS2. I did a lot of research in purchasing this laptop, and it hit just the right spot for style, size, performance, and specs for me.

  • It runs my Vive and that's what I wanted it for.
    T. Noffy (May 13, 2017) on Amazon
So far so good! It runs my Vive just fine. It scores in the mid 7's on the Steam VR test. It's a great, sleek, fast laptop that doesn't scream "Gamer Laptop".

  • I'm extremely happy with this purchase.
Oleg (Jun 7, 2017) on Amazon
Great laptop for its cost. I found HDD slow, so replaced it with SSD and now its just perfection. Tried playing different games on it and could say that temperatures should be extreme for throttling to be activated. Usually in game it becomes really hot, will see for how long its casing will last.

  • ACER ASPIRE V15 NITRO REVIEW
    A_R_T (Jul 29, 2017) on Amazon
UPDATE : AUGUST 5, 2017 - As promised pleased check updated photo of unit temperatures (CAM monitoring) during HD video converting (Wonderhare Video Converter). using only laptop fan for 15 mins... CPU temperature reached up to 83℃ and GPU 64℃Fan tends to throttle during heavy load to compensate the heat, sound it produced is tolerable. My unit Fan In idle / normal load is silent. My previous laptop MSI is also have temperature build-up during the same usage (Converting video / Gaming) due to sleekness design / limited airflow... this will be the negative sides you have to endure...just use additional accessories (cooling pad) to dissipate heat build-up during longer / heavy use) .Still in my opinion, for the price.. highly recommended..Pros;1. Sleek , Premium Build Quality and Portability2. Good Display Screen / Sound2. Fast Performance / HardwareCons;1. Heat Build-up2. USB ports Location & distance to each other (2.0 left side / 3.0 right side)Previous Review;I'm a member of AMAZON since 2013 and.. very seldom to rate a product.. intended only to share/ help decide other people if it's worth to purchase such item.. :)I bought this laptop as replacement of my beloved MSI GE72 6QF APACHE PRO 17" for two reasons; 1. Slim Design and Portability!!! (it fits nicely to my Oakley Big Kitchen Backpack) 2. and FUN!!!!I'm not a computer geek, but love gaming. and some fixing knowledge :) ... so I spent hours searching for budget friendly gaming laptop then stumbled on this ACER unit...I read some reviews.. especially the negative one's but still decided to try it.. (kinda risk taker..)..I decided to proceed upgrading the HDD of Laptop and do the advance fix? this to avoid OVERHEATING ISSUE / LOUD SPINNING FAN by applying new CPU/GPU Thermal Paste....I hope ACER still reconsider not voiding the warranty :) .... in attached photos shows all the components inside and how the original thermal paste was applied (which might the reported uneven high temp / fan rev in other units).. During my tear-down following items was used.... (Believe me it's not easy but you can!.. just utmost care shall apply) - (1. Vastar Prof. Opening Pry Tool Kit 2. Seagate FireCuda Gaming 1TB HDD (for upgrade) 3. Artic MIX-4 Thermal Compound 4. Tekton Precision tools 5. ArticClean 60ml Kit ) The results; No Loud / rev. Fan or High Temp... while in normal use ie; watching / converting HD video / Surfing the net - Temp: CPU- 43~48 / GPU - 40~43 Deg using NZXT / CAM pc monitoring software) not yet tested for extreme / extended game..after installation... I will provide performance update ) /

  • Nice looking, VR Ready, Slim gaming laptop.
Edwin A. Rodriguez (Dec 14, 2017) on Amazon
VR ready. Using it with a Vive doesn't lag at all. Does need a cooling pad but other than that this is a great machine (and nice looking as well).Battery lasts about 4 hours if used moderately. Performance is affected if used unplugged for VR but that's expected. The computer's RAM is up-gradable which is nice. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase.

  • Complete beast under the hood for the price!
Cheap Geek (Jan 19, 2018) on Amazon
I bought it for $1150 with the Acer Mixed Reality Headset included. I don't know if Acer solved the heating issues that some people are talking about, but I played for 8 hours Ghost Recon Wildlands on High detail, make heavy renders with Autocad 2018, use intense calculations on MATLAB and use several VM a once without any issue. I had a 4K, i7, 16GB, GTX 960 Dell XPS but now it seems like a dinosaur compare to this Maschine. The other thing that I like is that is not slim by today standards but doesnt look like a gaming machine neither...

  • Great laptop but slow hard drive
Larry (Aug 30, 2017) on Amazon
This is a really nice laptop. Graphics card is great for gaming. It's nice having the OS on the SSD for fast boot times. But the second hard drive seems unusually slow, even for a laptop. It's got my Steam games on it but the hard drive just seemed to grind while downloading or doing a restore of the game folder from a USB 3 stick. Admittedly, I haven't checked the Acer site to see if there are any updates that might improve the performance of the 1 TB Seagate drive so perhaps I should do that. It would be a 5 star laptop if the 1 TB Seagate drive performed better.

  • Heat issues = only 4 stars.
Rasmus Sorensen (Dec 25, 2017) on Amazon
Definite a nice gaming laptop where you get a lot of performance for the money. My primary issue has been heating related. This laptop (VN7-593G-73KV) generates A LOT of heat and has trouble dissipating all of it. The CPU routinely reach 99-100 °C during gaming, causing the CPU to throttle and the game to lag.

I love this computer. Fan isn't as bad as some people make it out to be, but I don't push it to the limit constantly. Yes fingerprints are an issue.

  • Good specs for price, but no human tested this.
    Atlas4427 (Jul 21, 2017) on Amazon
Let me start by stating why I enjoy this laptop. The specifications for this price level is extremely competitive, making it one of the best laptops I've found, and very cheap comparatively. The screen looks great, the keyboard feels lovely to type on, and this does not look like a gaudy "gamer laptop".However, the positioning of the trackpad is quite terrible, and the fans are obnoxious. The trackpad sits right below the left palm, making it near impossible to type with the trackpad enabled. It was near impossible to even log in to my user account with the trackpad where it is, as your palm will mess up all of the typing. I do not recommend that in the slightest. The fans are also terribly loud. They do the standard laptop "spin up at random intervals", which is fine, but these fans are louder than normal music volume through headphones, something that is unacceptable.

  • everything looks good till today I am trying to activate turbo boost
Kindle Customer (Jul 28, 2017) on Amazon
I bought this laptop on 05/2017, everything looks good till today I am trying to activate turbo boost. I assume it should be a simple option in BIOS and I just need to enable it. After I tried several times, I didn't find the option in BIOS. I even upgrade the BIOS to 1.0.6 still no lucky.I chatted with online support, they said I need to call Acer Answer Group. Then I call them, they said this is not support by them, they said they only support warranty item and this is customized item. I ask him who should I call Acer support. I went back to call Acer support, it went 2 minutes then hang with no reason. This should be simple task and they just tell meI am still trying to chatting with them to get this resolved. I don't know what I will get. This is a good laptop but bad customer services.

  • Piece of Junk.....Don't buy!
Nomad (Aug 6, 2017) on Amazon
Avoid this laptop like the plague. I purchased this in the process of an overall strategy to improve my internet experience. Specifically, replacing Comcast with CenturyLink's 1/G service, speed testing at 950 Mbps, symmetric and replacing an old MacBook (Snow Leopard 10.6.8).From the very start, downloading speeds and FTP transfers from my server were and remain excruciatingly slow, even slower than the Mac which is incapable of utilizing my very fast home connection. Instead of expected transfer speeds in 10-12 MB/s range, this computer maxes out at 400 kB/s, effectively moving data at approximately 1GB per hour. A 20GB file took 19 hours to transfer.Initially suspecting a problem with the ISP, no less than two plant managers and two highly trained techs came to the house and scrubbed the line from their plant (about 4 miles away) to the computer. They were up and down poles and checked each and every connection for over four hours. Some minor traceroute losses were identified and corrected. Transfer speeds were still intolerable.I contacted Acer Level I support describing the problem which was escalated to Level II support in Texas (Case# 4816336U). I was instructed to update the driver (same driver) and the tech confirmed no problem on the card and was amazed by the result of the speedtest. No ideas how to resolve the issue. The set-up here is 1/G service to a CenturyLink (C2100T) modem and a Cat6 ethernet cable into a tp-link 5-port Gigabit switch (TL-SG105E) and two Cat6 cables, one to the MacBook and one to this PC. Transfer speeds on the Mac hoover in the 3MB/s range. The PC, 400kB/s. I have also removed the Mac from the equation and hardwired the modem directly to the PC with no improvement. All cables, though brand new, have also been replaced without improvement.I have the exact same FTP clients and settings on both platforms, FileZilla and CuteFTP pro. Transfer speed using either client makes no difference, still intolerable.I attempted an Optimizer tool which had no effect on the transfer speed. All of my tech friends shrug their shoulders.Sadly, the return window to Amazon has expired otherwise this would be on a UPS truck. What a tragic waste of $1300. Spare yourself and don't repeat my mistake. Caveat emptor!Updating my original review...After two years, I am well overdue to replacing this junk. Its newest trick is an annoying buzzing. Two computer techs have opened the computer and both fans are spotless. Someone in Acer's forums said to reboot without an external monitor attached because supposedly that causes a problem. You guessed it, still buzzing. Acer is a brand to AVOID!!!Wish there was an option to rate this below 1 star. Going on three years, the buzzing continues despite all suggestions to add a software speedfan, update the BIOS, etc. etc. Just purchased replacement fans in a last desperate maneuver to getting rid of this junk once and for all. I think what bothers me the most is all the rave reviews suggesting that there was nothing in the marketplace at this price point that could come close to rivaling its specs. Makes me wonder how much they were paid for those reviews. A better place to review is Acer's forums where complaints about noise are numerous as well as the number of attempts and strategies to resolve it. Even Acer monitors which are a "best seller" here are garbage. What is clear is that they manufacture far too many models to make anything well before releasing them. FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS BUY ACER PRODUCTS!Another update....Sheltering in place with the Coronavirus and struggling financially, the buzzing, clacking, clicking continues. In order to use the computer, I wear the same headphones I use when running my chain saw. I purchased a new pair of replacement fans from an online seller here on Amazon and brought these and the computer to a tech for repair. I was to learn the hard way that Sunon, the Chinese manufacturer [don't get me started on the Chinese] makes hundreds, if not thousands, of fans. Those in Acer's model 591G will not work in 592G or 593G. In this unit, EG75070S1-C350-S9C and the supposed replacement fan EG75070S1-C090-S9C are not interchangeable. The pins do not align. Scouring the internet, an exact match does not appear to be available.Suffice to say, Acer will never see another penny of my money. I wish that they would reach out and offer me a refund. A horrible experience that I would wish on no one.

They actually sent out a computer without the 1 TB hard drive in it. I do not mean installed. I mean completely missing hard drive. The SSD was there but not the main hard drive.

DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP if you plan on doing anything that uses the gtx graphics card. And if you don't need the graphics card save yourself $400 and buy something with just an integrated chip because that's the only thing that will work on this laptop without burning your hands off.I gave them two trys with two different laptops from Amazon but both of ones that they sent me had a gpu that heated up to 200+ degrees when running a game. Acer aupport was miserable and wouldnt answer any question until you gave them about every piece of information about you besides your social security number. After i jumped through the hoops of doing all this they didn't seem to know what was wrong even though it's obviosuly a defect out of the box with this laptop. Amazon was nice enough to give me a refund and i will not be buying any Acer products in the future for fear of getting my fingertips burnt off.
