Inline with last month's announcement, Amazon has expanded its Appstore for Android to about 200 countries including India, Australia, Brazil and Mexico.

This international expansion is the latest in a series of Amazon Appstore for Android launches, which have included the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Japan.

The Appstore app for Android has been updated to version 5.0 and the change log indicated this expansion. The Appstore can be downloaded on any Android device after enabling 'installation of apps from unknown sources' settings. To celebrate the launch, the Amazon Appstore is bringing back one of its most popular Free Apps of the Day, "Fruit Ninja," along with "Cut the Rope: Experiments." These will be available, for free, on May 23 and May 24, respectively.

For a limited time, Amazon will also offer promotions and discounts on popular games from brands such as Ubisoft, Sega and Rovio, including offering Angry Birds Space for free till June 3.

"We are thrilled to be expanding the reach of our global app distribution to nearly 200 countries," said Mike George, VP of Apps and Games at Amazon. "By further expanding the distribution of apps to millions of customers around the world, we are continuing to make it easy for customers to enjoy their Amazon apps on Kindle Fire and any Android device."

The Amazon Appstore is an alternative to Google's own Play Store which comes pre=loaded with most Android devices. It allow users to download apps with a single click and offers one noteworthy app free each day. It also support in-app purchases.

At the time of writing this story we were able to create a new account through the app and download free apps without entering any Credit Card information. However, to download paid apps one needs to enter credit card details to the account via a browser.

Amazon also announced that Kindle Fire will be available in over 170 new countries on June 13 and that it's available for pre-order. However, at the time of writing this post the site prompts that it can not deliver the tablets to India.

Amazon had first announced the global expansion of its Appstore for Android devices in April informing developers that they can submit their apps for distribution in new markets, where Amazon is rolling out its Appstore. It had added that registered developers who wanted international distribution would have their apps automatically made available for download, unless they designate otherwise.
