Samsung has started informing users that it is shutting down its music streaming subscription service, dubbed Music Hub, on July 1.

Techradar reports that Samsung is notifying its Music Hub users about the shutdown, telling them to wait for further details on the streaming service closure.

Notably, the South Korean giant is also advising its users via a message in the Music Hub app to "take the time to download all purchased content and use any remaining vouchers for Samsung Music before July 1, 2014 - after that date they will no longer be available."

Samsung announced the Music Hub service back in 2012 and allowed users to upload music to the cloud and access it from a PC and up to five mobile devices as well as stream music for a paid amount of GBP 9.99 or EUR 9.99 a month.

Techradar has also quoted a Samsung spokesperson who said, "We remain committed to delivering rich content experiences and a wide range of choices to our customers through our own services as well as those of our partners. In order to meet rapidly changing consumer needs, our services will remain available as individual apps rather than in one, single bundled storefront."

Samsung has started sending emails to its Music Hub users about the shutdown. Here's the official email (below), first posted by All About Samsung.

Dear Samsung Music (Music Hub) Customers

We would like to inform you that Samsung Music is no longer available from 1 July 2014. However, we will announce an even better and more complete musical experience as a replacement option for Samsung Music.

We ask you to take the time to download all of your purchased content before 1 July 2014 and to redeem any remaining vouchers for Samsung Music.

In March, Samsung unveiled a free music service dubbed 'Milk Music' for its Galaxy smartphones, entering a crowded market that already included Pandora, Spotify and Apple's iTunes. The service offers some 200 ad-free radio stations to US customers with Samsung Galaxy devices.

In addition, Samsung (in association with Amazon) after rolling out 'Kindle for Samsung', a custom-built ebook service for its Galaxy devices, seems to be all set to shut down its own ebook service.

Engadget reports that the South Korean giant will be merging its own Book section from Hub to the new 'Kindle for Samsung'. It's worth noting that Sony also shut down its ebook reader store in Europe and Australia earlier this month.
