OnePlus is a Shenzhen-based start-up and producer of smartphones founded in December, 2013. The company's claim to fame is its bid to offer flagship-level specs in its smartphones, at affordable prices. OnePlus initially sold its smartphones only through an invite system where customers would be sent an invite to purchase smartphones and they had to make the purchase within a fixed time frame. Of late the company has held open sales of its smartphones too.
OnePlus Buds 4 have finally made it to India in July this year. And, they look nothing like their predecessor. For the all-new Buds, OnePlus seems to have gone back to the drawing board and redesigned the entire product, rather than using the same design and adding some upgrades.
The OnePlus Nord series brings some features seen on the company's higher-end smartphones to the midrange segment, along with incremental hardware upgrades over last year's models. This year, the OnePlus Nord CE 5 has arrived with a more powerful processor and a much larger battery than last year's Nord CE 4 model. The handset is also equipped with some OnePlus AI software features. It competes with phones like the iQOO Z10, Motorola Edge 60 Fusion, Infinix GT 30 Pro, and Vivo T4 in India.
The OnePlus Nord 5, the company's latest mid-range smartphone, has arrived as the successor to the OnePlus Nord 4, which was introduced a year ago. This handset brings some notable improvements over its predecessor, including a more capable Snapdragon 8 series chipset and slightly better cameras. However, the mid-range segment is extremely competitive, especially around the Rs. 30,000 mark, with noteworthy rivals like the Poco F7, Motorola Edge 60 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A36 5G, iQOO Neo 10R, and the Nothing Phone 3a Pro.
The neckband-style wireless audio range was once a rage in the Indian market, and the Bullets range from OnePlus had a good run. In 2022, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 model was the best-selling neckband in the Indian market, contributing a 14 per cent share of the total neckband volume, according to Counterpoint Research. However, as time has passed, TWS has taken over, and they come in all sizes and prices.
