Netflix has released a full-length trailer for A Series of Unfortunate Events season 2, which charts the continued misfortunes of the Baudelaire children as Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) attempts to steal the fortune their parents left for them. The new season is based on books five through nine of the novel series by Lemony Snicket.

The new A Series of Unfortunate Events trailer begins with the banker and will executor Arthur Poe (K. Todd Freeman) being oblivious to the perils as always: "From the moment I told the Baudelaires that their parents perished in a terrible fire, they’ve had adventures in all sorts of exotic locales." You know nothing, Mr. Poe.

The first season ended with the Baudelaire children – Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes), and Sunny (Presley Smith) – being dropped off at a boarding school by Mr. Poe. "I know all about you. You've been sent to guardian after guardian, and adversity has always followed you," the school's vice-principal (Roger Bart), who loves playing the violin and is cheekily named Nero in the books, says. "I'm afraid you'll have to live in a small, tin shack."

Count Olaf shows up later, once again devising schemes to trap the Baudelaire children, using his failed theatre troupe. "Does this seem like a nightmare?," Count Olaf asks. "Because that's the effect I was going for." As always, the children see right through his scheme in front of other adults, who steadfastly refuse to believe them. "What sane man would disguise himself four times in a row?," a disbelieving Mr. Poe asks.

The Baudelaire children become friends with some orphans at the boarding school, who also lost their parents in a fire. These must be two of the Quagmire triplets from the books, Duncan (Dylan Kingwell) and Isadora (Avi Lake). When Klaus and Isadora take out their respective spyglass, they find out it locks together to become one, revealing a secret code.

Nathan Fillion makes a brief appearance in the new trailer as well, who will be playing the brother of narrator Lemony (Patrick Warburton), Jacques Snicket. The infant Sunny drives a firetruck at one point, climbs vertically up an elevator shaft, and gets asked how work's going by his elder siblings at the end.

The trailer cuts to Sunny in a front of a typewriter with a pair of glasses and a pearl necklace, intended to give the image of an old secretary, with the school principal screaming: "Faster, you type like a one-year-old."
