Ever since Ben Affleck stepped down from directing the solo Batman film, he has provided conflicting statements on whether he'd like to even continue playing the character. In a new interview, Affleck brought up those concerns again, saying he wants "to find a graceful and cool way to segue out of it."

Ahead of Justice League's release on Friday, USA Today sat down with the cast to talk about the film's struggle to cinema screens, which has involved poor critical reception to past entries, a change of directors, and studio pressure to keep the runtime under two hours.

Here's the bit about Affleck and Batman from towards the end of the interview:

The new Batman movie being developed by Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes) is “something I’m contemplating,” says Affleck, who originally was tapped to direct. “You don’t do it forever, so I want to find a graceful and cool way to segue out of it.”

Those are interesting choice of words, and don't help clear up the situation that Affleck has personally muddied since day one. Reeves was hired back in February as the new director, and to help rewrite the film. But it's clear that those production problems, and DC and Warner Bros.' inability to figure out a proper plan for its universe unlike Marvel, isn't having a reassuring effect on Affleck.

Affleck has given multiple non-answers in the past few months, and this new remark is just another non-answer. The 45-year-old had a similar relationship with directing the Batman film, which eventually led to him stepping away from that responsibility.

We'll have to wait to see how this goes, but he's still the Batman in Justice League, out November 17.
