Astha Kapoor (Riddhi Dogra) is a dedicated teacher from a typical middle-class family of the early 1990s. She dons multiple hats of a sincere wife, a doting mother, a caring daughter-in-law, and a university professor. As patriarchy would have it, her politeness and hard work are reciprocated with the recurrent cold reminder of being grateful since “all her needs are being taken care of” by her in-laws. A journey of self-discovery kickstarts for Astha when she meets an unconventional artiste, Peeplika Khan (Monica Dogra).
The romantic drama series is based on Manju Kapur’s novel titled A Married Woman, which has been adapted into Indian cable television several times before as well. The storyline is set in the Delhi in 1990s, against the backdrop of the riots that followed the illegal demolition of Babri Masjid.
