  • The Infinity Blade was added with the 7.01 update
  • It was then removed for being overpowered
  • It may return in the form of a limited time mode

The Infinity Blade weapon in Fortnite may have been removed but that hasn't stopped Epic Games from planning an Infinity Blades limited time mode (LTM) that could be imaginatively called 'Blades'. Dataminers have found files pertaining to this mode in the game. Though it's unsure when Fortnite would see the return of the Infinity Blade considering that the community felt it was overpowered and has no method to counter it, forcing Epic Games to shelve the weapon from Fortnite for now. That said, a Fortnite Infinity Blade 'Blade' LTM could be a part of the recently announced 14 Days of Fortnite event which was announced alongside the Fortnite 7.10 update.

According to a tweet from data miner Lucas7yoshi (via Fortnite Insider) the Infinity Blade LTM could be played in Solo, Duos, or Squads. This could make for some seriously overpowered albeit hopefully entertaining scenarios involving the storied weapon that shares the same name as Epic's breakout mobile hit that was pulled from the App Store earlier this month with no warning.

"At Epic we strive to put players first and to provide a supported, full-fledged experience in every game we publish. With the development of Spyjinx and other projects, it has become increasingly difficult for our team to support the Infinity Blade series at a level that meets our standards," reads a post from the company.

Considering that Epic Games is making a ridiculous amount of money from Fortnite, it's hard to believe that the company can't make the necessary effort to support what many think are some of the best mobile games around.

The removal of the Infinity Blade games comes after Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney suggested that the company was far from happy with Apple's policies, bringing them up in a recent interview.

"We'd like to launch [the Epic Games Store] on iOS in 2019, however, that is in apparent conflict with current Apple policy," Sweeney said in conversation with Game Informer. "We believe all general purpose computing devices, such as PCs, smartphones, and tablets, should be open to competition between stores."
