The online arms of news outlets have shared some pretty impressive traffic stats for the ongoing London Olympics 2012. The US based NBC was first to reveal the week 1 traffic details and it has grown four-fold when compared to the Beijing Olympics, which were held in 2008.

According to the publication, NBCOlympics.com has garnered over 744 million page views along with over 75 million video views from around the globe.

On the other hand, BBC, which is also running a dedicated section of London Olympics, stated that it got a total of 18 million unique browser visits during the first week of coverage. On the video front, 17 million people watched at-least 15 minutes of video footage from BBC's Red Button live streams.

It further stated that BBC Olympics webpages saw 80% uplift in browsers across PC, mobile, tablet and connected TV.

Online content consumption might still be lagging behind the TV, but these impressive numbers show that it wouldn't be wrong to term these multi-platform Games, as dubbed by BBC.
