Google India on Monday announced the launch of its second 'Great Online Shopping Festival' (GOSF), an online shopping festival which brings some of the leading e-commerce players in India on a common platform to provide the 'best deals available on the web'.

This year, the Great Online Shopping Festival will last three days, starting on December 11, and stretching till December 13. In its second year, GOSF will see participation from over 200 partners including e-commerce websites, classifieds companies, online travel sites, auto companies, telecom companies, fashion labels, health and well-being companies, and even banking and financial services, who will all offer 'incredible discounts and deals for everyone', according to Google. Visit GOSF.in to find the full list of participating retailers.

The initiative was launched by Google last year to boost the adoption of online shopping in India, and reportedly saw a tremendous response, with most players claiming over 350 percent growth in daily sales during the promotion period. The festival saw participation from all over India with 50 percent of the buyers making an online purchase for the first time, the company said.

Speaking about the momentum of online shopping in India, Rajan Anandan, VP & Managing Director, Google India said, "Great Online Shopping Festival is India's version of Cyber Monday in the west and is an exciting platform to raise awareness and consumer adoption of online shopping in India. With over 200 million Internet users in the country, more and more Internet users are opting to shop online and fuelling the growth of both large multinational and homegrown companies."

According to Google India, buyers will be able to find discounts ranging from 20 percent up to 80 percent in many categories - this includes up to 60 percent off on luxury watches, 20 percent off on air tickets on domestic routes, up to 50 percent off on speakers, headphones and men's accessories, up to 80 percent off on home decor, flat 40 percent off on furniture, up to 50 percent off on TVs, up to 40 percent on mobile phones, up to 45 percent computers and tablets, up to 30 percent on cameras, up to 40 percent off on men's footwear and more.

The initiative is also supported by three new partners to help create awareness about online shopping and drive user participation for GOSF. Airtel, Intel and Paytm are the preferred partners for the initiative. Apart from promoting the initiative, Airtel will also offer a flat 10% cashback on all online transactions on top of the other offers by participating websites to customers who transact using Airtel money. And to help people connect to the internet, Airtel is giving away a free dongle on new 4G and a free Wi-Fi modem on new broadband connections.

Sandeep Aurora, Director of Marketing and Market Development, Intel South Asia, added: "We are delighted to partner with Google on this initiative, through this initiative, consumers can avail exciting and exclusive offers on the best of Intel Processor powered devices like tablets, and the latest 4th generation Intel Core processor powered laptops."
