Samsung believes it can reduce the number of cords in your house. The South Korean electronics conglomerate has announced a new monitor that can wirelessly charge your smartphones. Called the SE370, the monitor is being touted as the first of its kind to have this capability.

The SE370 comes equipped with integrated wireless charging station that can charge any device which supports the Qi wireless charging standard. Using the new monitor, Samsung believes it can declutter "work areas" by getting rid of "unnecessary cables and ports needed to charge mobile devices."

To charge a phone, a user needs to place it near the stand's charging area. Once placed, the phone will automatically begin to charge.

Other features of the monitor aren't too bad either. It comes in 23.6-inch and 27-inch screen sizes sporting a 1920x1080 pixel full-HD screen resolution and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. Both the variants have a 4ms response time, while the 23.6-inch variant has a brightness (luminance) of 250 cd/m2, and the 27-inch variant has a brightness of 300 cd/m2. There's an HDMI v1.4 port for feeding the input.

"Technology should support, not interfere with, active lifestyles," Seok-gi Kim, senior vice president of Samsung's visual display business, said in a statement. "Our customers increasingly rely on mobile devices to obtain information and interact with others; so by doing away with the clutter on their desks, we are helping them to use their mobile devices in a smarter way," he added.

Samsung didn't reveal a launch time-frame for the new monitor yet. But hopefully, it will launch by the end of this year.
