As expected, Microsoft has started rolling out the Windows 10 Anniversary update for all computers and tablets running on Windows 10. As of June, Windows 10 is estimated to have been installed on around 300 million machines around the world, and all of these machines are set to get an upgrade.

Needless to say, the rollout will be in phases so it may take a few days before it reaches you. The Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update was also expected to roll out simultaneously, but that hasn't happened. Microsoft says that the new update will be released in the 'coming weeks', and that's all the clarity we get on the matter for now.

This update is free for all the devices running on Windows 10 but will cost $119 (around Rs. 8,000) to those who will upgrade from previous versions of Windows. Microsoft officially ended its free upgrade program for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users on July 29, but left open a loophole that lets users upgrade for free still.

For all personal Windows 10 users, they can also get the update manually installed by following the steps mentioned here, while those who own a Windows 10 PC at work need to ask their administrators on how they plan to update.

The company announced the Windows 10 Anniversary Update back in March during its annual Build conference. The upgrade brings more support for stylus with Windows Ink and other enhancements for its Edge browser, with most notably extensions support. The update also brings improvements to Hello and Cortana.

Cortana will be able to make suggestions to the user through the day post the Windows 10 Anniversary Update - like offering to arrange for transport - and will be available right on the lock screen so that you don't have to unlock the PC to access it.
