Reliance has announced details about its first smartphone. As previously announced, the 4G smartphone will be available under the Lyf brand. Called the Lyf Earth 1, it runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.

The dual-SIM (Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM) Lyf Earth 1 sports a 5.5-inch Amoled display with a full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution, translating to a pixel density of 401ppi. The smartphone is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, coupled with Adreno 405 GPU.

The first smartphone designed for Reliance Jio sports dual rear cameras, with one 13-megapixel sensor and one 2-megapixel sensor. The Lyf Earth 1 also bears a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 64GB).

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. The Lyf Earth 1 runs on a 3500mAh battery. Weighing 162.5 grams, it measures in at 154x76.6x7.25mm.

For now, there are no details of when the Lyf Earth 1 will be launched by Reliance Jio, or even when the company's 4G network will be rolled out to the public. The details of the Lyf Earth 1 smartphone were first reported by IBNLive, and have been independently confirmed by Gadgets 360 from Reliance.

As of now, Reliance Jio is only available for 1 lakh Reliance employees across India. Before this, it was only accessible in the Navi Mumbai office of Reliance, and now will over the next few months be put through a kind of beta test to see how effective the coverage is. While there is no confirmed date for the commercial launch, it is expected to take place in late March or April 2016
