Micromax A110Q Canvas 2 Plus with 5.0-inch display, quad-core processor launched for Rs. 12,100
Micromax has officially listed the successor to its Canvas 2 phone, the Micromax A110Q Canvas 2 Plus, on its website for Rs. 12,100.

While the phone retains the same form factor as that of the A110 Canvas 2, it gets an upgraded 1.2GHz quad-core processor. The Canvas 2 was powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor. The RAM on the phone has also been upgraded to 1GB. The Canvas 2 Plus runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest iteration of the OS. The Canvas 2 ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The phone features the same 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 480x854 pixels. It features an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and autofocus and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. The Canvas 2 featured a VGA front facing camera.

The A110Q Canvas 2 Plus offers 4GB internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. The phone features a 2,000 mAh battery and claims a standby time of 280 hours and talk time of 6 hours.

The Micromax Canvas 2 had received the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update in March so the upgrade is essentially a power boost.

Judging by the specifications the phone appears to be a good upgrade but there's just a small price difference between the Canvas 2 Plus and the A116 Canvas HD. We feel that the Canvas 2 Plus should have replaced the Canvas 2 and the price should have been kept the same.

Micromax has found success with the Canvas series of smartphones and had claimed to have sold over a million units since launch. No wonder it's expanding the series adding new handsets across different segments and even introducing niche phones like the Canvas Music. The Canvas series consists of Micromax A100 the first Canvas phone, Micromax A72 Canvas Viva, Micromax A110 Canvas 2 (Review | Pictures), Micromax A116 Canvas HD (Review | Pictures), Micromax A115 Canvas 3D, Micromax A111 Canvas Doodle, Micromax A115 Canvas 3D, and Micromax A88 Canvas Music.
