Samsung launched the Galaxy Pocket in India way back in April last year. Now the company is looking to launch a successor to the device in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Pocket Plus.

Samsung prominent blog SamMobile has posted an image of the Galaxy Pocket Plus, which looks pretty similar to the Galaxy Pocket. Specs wise, the smartphone runs on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich with Samsung's TouchWiz UI atop, that has been toned down a notch due to lower specs of the device.

The specs on the smartphone are identical to the Galaxy Pocket except for the processor that seems to have been updated to a 850MHz Broadcom. Other features include a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, 2-megapixel rear-facing camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, 1200 mAh battery, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, USB 2.0 and an FM Radio.

We're not sure what Samsung is aiming at with a look alike of the Galaxy Pocket with barely no difference in the specs. Just like the Galaxy Pocket, this device will feature in the entry-level segment. But if users are looking to upgrade to the Pocket Plus, as of now, apart from the processor nothing looks new.

There is no official word from Samsung on the device yet but the company is planning an early 2013 release for the Galaxy Pocket Plus. The Galaxy Pocket Plus will also be available in Latin America under the codename GT-S5301L.
