ZTE Grand X Quad Lite with 5.0-inch qHD display launched for Rs. 14,999

ZTE Corp, has finally entered the Indian smartphone market with the launch of its new smartphone, the Grand X Quad Lite which has been priced at Rs. 14,999.

The ZTE Grand X Quad Lite features a 5-inch qHD display with a resolution of 540x960 pixels and has a pixel density of 220 PPI. It supports dual-SIM functionality with one SIM supporting 3G and the other one, 2G. The ZTE Grand X runs the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. While it includes 4GB of internal storage, the storage capacity can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. There is a 5.0-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera on the phone.

Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G and Wi-Fi tethering. The device is backed by a 2,500mAh battery.

The company has also announced that it will soon introduce its premium range of smartphones in India for the high-end segment, and that its next generation smartphones would be inspired by company's global smartphone portfolio.

Speaking on the launch, Xu Dejun, CEO of ZTE India, said, "We are optimistic on our marketing and channel spends and looking at strengthening the brand from all fronts. Our distribution and sales structure is backed by a strong network of 214 service centres across the country."

The ZTE Grand X Quad Lite smartphone will not hit the stores immediately but will be available in the coming days.

The Chinese handset vendor, which is the second largest telecom equipment maker and the world's fourth largest mobile handset manufacturer, has launched Grand X in the mid-range segment and is targeting some of the dominant players in the category that includes Micromax, Karbonn, Intex, among others. It will be interesting to see how a Chinese global player carves its place in a price-conscious market like India. Emerging markets like India have been a huge target for global companies like ZTE.

Xu also added, "By year-end, ZTE aims to have our pan-India presence with the smartphones and data cards."
