Highlights
  • MobiKwik is a leading payments wallet in India.
  • CashKaro is one of the bigger affliate marketers here.
  • CashKaro's CEO tweeted that MobiKwik owes it six months of dues.

Usually, when you see companies chatting on Twitter, it's a sad attempt at clever humour to make brand partnerships and corporate mergers into trending topics. When CEOs chat on Twitter however, things get a little more cutting.

On Thursday, CashKaro co-founder Swati Bhargava tweeted to MobiKwik CEO Bipin Preet Singh, saying that payments from the company to CashKaro are pending for the last six months now.

Funnily enough, the first reply to the tweet comes from the MobiKwik support handle, asking for the ticket number of the complaint Bhargava had. The real issue is apparently of pending affiliate payments, but Singh did not tweet in response.

UPDATE: Singh responded to our email with the following response, completely denying CashKaro's claim. In the mail, he states: "It's not factually correct that payments to cashkaro [sic] are pending for more than six months - affiliates are paid basis validation by the advertiser which takes time given the number of transactions. Also our terms of engagement with affiliates make this clear and there is typically 90 days of time we take to pay. This is all pre agreed with our partners."

CashKaro later responded to say that after taking to Twitter, the issue has been resolved, and the original Tweet has now been deleted.

This might be the first time we're seeing a company's co-founder and CEO having to tweet at another CEO for unpaid dues. The last time we saw CEOs going at it on Twitter, it was Snapdeal and Flipkart, as Flipkart Executive Chairman Sachin Bansal and Snapdeal CEO Kunal Bahl traded barbs, but typically, you'll see ordinary users like us complaining about companies that aren't doing their bit - it's a little unexpected to see it at this level.
