Android chief Andy Rubin has taken the time to announce that Android activation numbers are reaching as high as 850,000 devices a day, making that 300 million Android devices in all. That's around 590 activations every hour or nearly 10 devices every second!
12 million of these are just tablets.This is exclusive of tablets like the Kindle Fire which do not use Google services.
The number of daily activations was 700,000 around two months ago, but the holiday season seems to have given it a big push.
At present there are over 450,000 applications (as opposed to 150,000 apps last year) in the Android market with over 1 billion app downloads every month.
