Vodafone Idea Brings Rs. 24 Recharge to Extend Validity of Prepaid Accounts by 28 Days

Vodafone Idea pack will compete with Airtel's Rs. 23 pack

Vodafone Idea has launched a new Rs. 24 prepaid recharge plan for its subscribers. The plan is available in an open market manner and is available for both Vodafone and Idea Cellular prepaid subscribers in India. The validity of this plan is 28 days, and it mainly aims to offer validity extension to its subscribers, rather than talk time or data benefits. The new pack comes with 100 on-net night calling minutes from 11pm to 6am during the validity period.

Detailing the Vodafone Idea Rs. 24 recharge pack a bit, prepaid subscribers will have to pay 4 paise per 10KB, and 10 paise per 10KB in roaming for data usage. Calling rates are at 2.5 paise per second for local and STD calls, and as mentioned free 100 night on-net calling from 11pm to 6am IST. To elaborate, on-net calling means calls made to the same network i.e. Vodafone to Vodafone and Idea to Idea. As for SMS, users will be charged at Re. 1 per message and national messages will be charged at Rs. 1.5 paise per message.

The pack doesn't come bundled with talk time or data, and its recommended to do a separate recharge for those benefits. Vodafone also notes that upon the end of validity, if the user fails to recharge, it will check if the user has sufficient balance, and deduct Rs. 24 to extend the validity by 28 days more. The pack is available on the MyVodafone app for all prepaid users.

Airtel also has a similar recharge option priced at Rs. 23, and it provides local and STD voice calls at 2.5 paise per second as well as a local SMS at Re. 1 and a national SMS at Rs. 1.5. All this comes with a validity of 28 days. Notably, the recharge pack doesn't include any data benefits.
