If you think online streaming services and 4K video content are the future for your TV viewing, look no further than Roku's announcement ahead of CES 2016 about the all-new 4K ultra-HD Roku TV-equipped units that will be available from various manufacturers starting this year.

Just like its newest and most powerful media streaming box - the Roku 4 - Roku TVs will help you find ultra-high-definition content via the 4K Spotlight Channel, to make the most of your premium display. The Roku TV platform was announced at CES 2014 - and two years on, the company claims it has captured 8% of the smart TV market in the US and has established its presence in one million homes with the help of partners.

Apart from the aforementioned 4K content and thanks to the underlying Roku OS, you also get a personalised home screen, more than 3,000 streaming channels, and a search feature that combs through every service you are subscribed to.

Roku is also working with its TV partners to integrate its own "HDR reference design" in the 4K sets that are being produced. High dynamic range (HDR) imagery can deliver content with a greater range of luminosity levels which translates to a "richer image" in plain English, and is something brands will bet big on at CES 2016 in Las Vegas.

60 new Roku TV models - from Haier, Hisense, Insignia, Sharp and TCL - will be released across North America this year, with Chinese maker TCL getting onto the shelves first before the end of March in the US.
