OnePlus Cardboard VR Headset India Price, Launch Details Revealed

OnePlus has revealed the pricing of its recently announced Cardboard virtual reality (VR) headset for the Indian market. The OnePlus Cardboard will be available in India at Rs. 99 via Amazon India (shipping charges excluding) starting the third week of July.

The company has revealed that the exact sale date for Indian market will be announced via its social channels soon. For global consumers, the OnePlus Cardboard will be available starting Friday and is free for anyone but users will have to pay for the shipping charges.

OnePlus has already revealed that its second flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 2, will be launching on July 27 and the announcement will be made at a virtual reality event.

The company alongside also revealed a contest where 1,000 users can get an OnePlus Cardboard for free. "We are giving away a plethora of headsets to our fans for free and shipping is on us! To win, simply sign up with this form, OnePlus Cardboard Giveaway, and the winners will be chosen at random." Users can sign-in by simply filling the form before the contest ends on July 3.

To recall, OnePlus Cardboard has been tailored perfectly to fit the One smartphone and can be easily assembled. The OnePlus Cardboard meets Cardboard 2.0 features alongside featuring few more improvements. The Cardboard package despite being 20 percent smaller than Google's Cardboard offers the same amazing visual experience. The OnePlus Cardboard has been designed for the OnePlus One; though it is compatible with devices up to 6 inches in size.

While unveiling the OnePlus Cardboard, Carl Pei, Co-Founder of OnePlus, had said that the device was "an initiative". OnePlus while announcing the price for the Cardboard again stressed on the same and said, "This is not just a product; it's an initiative. We aren't making any money by offering OnePlus Cardboard. In fact, we are losing money with each one. There will come a day in which we will be able to travel the world and immerse ourselves in amazing things without ever leaving the comfort of our homes. OnePlus Cardboard exists to drive this idea forward."
