Unlike the Civilization series Age of Empires is a real-time stragegy game, forcing you to think fast. It's for gamers who have brains. :)

My son lost his old game and found this game on Amazon. The game was new and everything he wanted and more. The only thing was He is 10 years old and paid with his own allowance for 3 day shipping. He didn't receive the game until 6 business days later.

I lost my orignial copy of Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings and was so surprised and releaved to see that it was still available on Amazon since they only sell new games in the stores. The product shipped expeditiously and plays marvelously. I like the earlier version because it keeps you hoping since you have to do everything manually - like moving pieces on a chess board. My favorite is Random with two allies against two enemies. My toughest challenge is getting the Mongols to find a way to beat the Chinese. They did in the real world, but in my Empires world they keep being defeated. So the game is still a challenge to me: Never Give Up! Well done and thank you.

I get a chance to play games only once in awhile, but this is a great game. I really enjoy coming back to try it again and again. I would recommend it to anyone who likes the previous civilization games.

I only needed this to install my expansion pack so I haven't really used it other than that; but it worked wonderfully for it.

It was a purchase for my son. He loves this game and I cannot think of a better gift for him. It keeps him out of trouble.

Age of Empires is, along with other games, an icon and a mandatory reference of the shining game industry of the 90's. This kind of games are missed a lot. Marketing and graphics have taken over good stories and gameplay.I hope we can live another generation like that one.

When I was younger, my brother and I would play this game all day. We would sign in to our MSN accounts and play against friends and each other. Unfortunately, my CD was lost in shipment when I moved to the states. My brother recently found his and suggested we played another round, so I bought this game again. I was so excited when it arrived and the condition was great. It plays like a charm and I forgot how informative the history is within the game. I bet I would have been able to pass my high school courses with higher grades if I didn't lose this game. Overall, a wonderful game with great history lessons and a great strategy game.

I played this game from the sun down, to the sun up back in the 90's. I lost the CD while moving and I had the urge to play it again after 20 years. An icon game, no match with another one. Got me a refurbished xp and it was all worth it. This game is ALL CLASS AROUND !!

I got it for my 9 year old grandson when he comes over to visit. It worked well and there were no complaints from him. We had no problems with the disk.

There are enough rave reviews here to get the point across, so I won't spend too much time. This game is addictive, historically fascinating (what if William Wallace did do battle with Genghis Khan?), and very easy on the eyes--the graphics are crystal clear. Just beware, you'll start playing, and without realizing it, the hours have flown by. The game never gets boring, and offers dozens of scenarios. Personal fave: attacking with elephants!

This game brings back so many memories. It doesn't have to be the latest in graphics technology; it has good, solid gameplay, and it's a lot of fun.

I got what I wanted and the game worked and came on time. The case it came in was broke, maybe it happened upon delivery. Could have been wrapped better, though I'd use them again.

My son enjoys playing this game at the same time learning a bit of history that comes with it.Who says playing with history isn't fun and educational.Now to just figure how to get him to let go of it in his sleep,lol.

The game was sent on time and with all the included pamplets. However, the graphics could be a bit better.

Love the game,but unfortunately when the CD arrived it was very scratched, it was really a waste of money. :(
