DTH service provider, Dish TV has announced the launch of DishOnline, an OTT (over-the-top) streaming app that is being called an "innovative path-breaking service" by the company.

The DishOnline app is currently available for existing Dish TV subscribers from the Google Play and Apple iTunes app stores, for Android and iOS respectively. Apart from smartphones and tablets, users will also be able to access DishOnline on their laptops and PCs via a Web interface - details on this last haven't been provided for now.

Dish TV has collaborated with Ditto TV, an online streaming portal, for the DishOnline service. DishOnline users will be able to watch four categories - live TV, movies, TV shows, and videos. According to the DTH service provider, over 1000 Bollywood and Hollywood movies are available on demand.

To access the service, Dish TV subscribers will have to buy DishOnline packs - the Jumbo Pack at Rs. 129 (includes all live channels, movies, shows and videos), and the Starter Pack at Rs. 49 (includes all movies, shows and videos). As an introductory offer, the Jumbo and Starter Packs will be available at Rs. 69 and Rs. 29 respectively.

Announcing this development, Mr. R.C Venkateish, Chief Executive Officer, Dish TV India said, "As industry leaders and pioneers of the DTH sector, we continue to reinvent and redefine the market with thought leadership to be ahead of the pack. DishOnline is a unique service for all those valued subscribers who want to keep in touch with their favourite shows and programmes even when on the move. We are delighted to offer them the world of unlimited entertainment on the go. This initiative will translate into huge competitive advantage for Dish TV as it is the only service provider in the cable TV and DTH industry to offer this one-of-a-kind facility."

Popular live channel feeds include Zee TV, Sony, Sab, Zee Cinema, Zee Studio, Zee Cafe, Ten Action, Ten Cricket, Zee News, Aaj Tak, BBC, Sony Mix, Masti, Zee Marathi, Zee Tamil and Zee Telugu.
