Foursquare, which teased its new bifurcated app earlier this month, is all set to release Swarm on Google Play and App Store on Thursday.

Just before the launch of Swarm for Android and iOS users, Foursquare has unveiled major features of the app, including planning, neighborhood sharing and check-in search, announce via a Twitter post.

First, we look at the 'nearby plans' feature in Swarm that is essentially a platform for users to throw ideas like 'anybody for drinks after office' or 'what's happening tonight' and is open to all user's friends in the city to reply, as per the official blog post.

The 'neighbourhood sharing' feature gives users the ability to know which of their friends is nearby, without having to text each and every one to know who's nearby. The feature lets users see only those friends who are in the same city, and vice-versa, thereby making it easier and faster to get in touch. One can switch the feature on and off in the Swarm app simply by swiping right on top from any screen.

The Swarm app will also include 'history search', a feature that enables users to search for anything such as city, person or any type of place, and get the whole history log with old check-ins.

There are more features that Swarm app would include but we will know about it as soon as the app makes an appearance on Google Play or App Store. The app is also said to reach Windows Phone plan later. Interested users can sign up at swarmapp.com for the latest updates.

With the introduction of the Swarm app for all the major mobile OS platforms, the location-discovery Foursquare would also be getting a makeover in terms of search features, and is said to provide answers to queries like 'give me a great date dinner spot' and not only 'tell me the nearest gas station.' The firm is almost finished with this new discovery-focussed Foursquare app version and would roll-out the same this summer.
